May 2004 - North to Scotland sees D’Agostino and Team JLR get
first podium of season and a clean sweep in the Scholarship Class
Knockhill, Scotland – Joe D’Agostino and Team JLR traveled
north to Scotland this past weekend to compete in the 5th and 6th Rounds
of the 2004 UK Formula Ford Championship held at the Knockhill circuit.
After a tough last outing at Croft, D’Agostino was hoping to
show what he was capable of at Knockhill. Testing on Thursday and Friday
would go well for D’Agostino and showed that the pace was there
to run up front. For qualifying D’Agostino would put in several
strong laps while working with Team JLR team-mates Dan Clarke and Charlie
Kimball (Race 1 – 6th position; Race 2 – 5th position)
and would find himself in good position for both races on Sunday.
D’Agostino would then have two hard-fought races finishing 6th
overall in Race 1 and 3rd overall in Race 2, also taking a clean sweep
of all Scholarship Cup points available for the weekend by taking points
for pole, fastest race lap, and a race win for both races. D’Agostino
was also nominated as the Motorsport News Race Ace for the weekend.

“This
weekend everything seemed to go right for me and I am happy to have
finally got on the podium. The team and I have been working hard for a good
result so
I am really pleased with all of our efforts. I know that as I continue to learn
and get better we should be regular visitors to the podium, and I have set
my sights on the top step. Now that I am 3rd in the overall Championship Cup
and
have a solid lead in the Scholarship Cup I am really looking forward to Snetterton
as I know Team JLR has a strong car their.”
D’Agostino jumps up a few positions in the overall Championship going
from 6th to 3rd and has further extended his lead in the Scholarship Class
Championship
after the weekend. The 7th and 8th Rounds of the UK Formula Ford Championship
will be the 5th-6th June held at the Snetterton circuit.
D’Agostino would like to thank Team JLR and all of his sponsors: Arai
Helmets, Skip Barber Racing School, Sparco, The Mayes Group, and all of his
personal sponsors.
