- D’Agostino
and Team JLR hold on to Scholarship Class points lead
after a challenging
weekend
at Croft
Croft,
England - Joe D’Agostino
competed in the 3rd and 4th Rounds of the 2004 UK Formula Ford Championship
this past weekend at the Croft
circuit.
This
was to be a difficult and challenging weekend for D’Agostino
as a series of irregular mechanical problems plagued the young American
throughout all of the practice and qualifying sessions. D’Agostino
went into qualifying knowing he had a race car capable of a top five
starting spot, only to be disappointed and having to start near the back
of the grid (Race 1 – 9th Position; Race 2 – 12th Position)
due to a mechanical failure after only completing four laps.
D’Agostino
put in his best effort for both races wanting to just collect points towards
the
championships and would bring it home in 3rd
in the Scholarship class for Race 1 and 2nd in the Scholarship class
for Race 2 (8th and 10th overall).

“It was a really trying
weekend for me as we were plagued with repetitive mechanical problems
that were just plain unlucky and uncharacteristic
of our team. The problems really made it difficult for me to get comfortable
around the track and to be able to make good progress. It especially
hurt us in qualifying as I had only done 4 laps before the failure, thus
I would have to start near the back of the grid for both races. For the
races I could see that I was a bit quicker than the cars around me but
the nature of the Croft circuit made it difficult to pass. I still managed
to get a few positions and most important is that I finished both races
and gained some points towards the championships.”
D’Agostino
falls slightly from 4th to 6th position in the overall Championship but
still leads
the Scholarship class championship after
the weekend. The 5th and 6th Rounds of the UK Formula Ford Championship
will be 15th-16th May held at the Knockhill circuit.
