For immediate release: March
2, 2004 - D’Agostino
signs with Team JLR Testing starts relatively late for D’Agostino as he recovers from a broken arm and concussion sustained while racing in the 2004 New Zealand Formula Ford winter series. Joe joins countryman Charlie Kimball in the team and will be at Donington Park March 9th for his first test in a Zetec Formula Ford Van Diemen. On signing terms with Team JLR, Joe commented, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to compete in such a well known and highly regarded junior formula. I have wanted to come overseas for sometime now, as I know if I am to make a name for myself and to have a shot at Formula 1, this is where I need to be. Having the chance to run with a team like Team JLR is fantastic and I cannot wait to get started. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my sponsors, Arai, Skip Barber Racing School, Sparco, The Mayes Group, and all of my personal sponsors as without their support I would not be where I am today.” Team boss Richard Dean added, “Joe has won a Championship every year he has been racing but is recovering from his injuries, so it will be tough for him to make up for lack of circuit knowledge and get back to full fitness before round one. However he is very determined and we know he is very quick after direct comparison with Charlie Kimball out in New Zealand earlier this year. It is quite a responsibility for us to be running two very highly rated young Americans; they are both very ambitious and want to go all the way in the sport. They will bring colour to the team and to this years Formula Ford Championship”.
