April 13, 2003 – Daytona Beach, Florida – D’Agostino wins Southern Series Championship.

Joe D’Agostino competed in the final race of the Southern Championship this weekend at Daytona Speedway using the 24 hour full course.
With the current points tally, D’Agostino only needed seven points to clinch the Championship.

Starting the weekend off on the right track,
D’Agostino qualified on the pole. The first race on Saturday was a great battle with Zoltan Bodor, the only one who could spoil D’Agostino’s chance at the Championship. D’Agostino led the entire race except for the last lap in which Bodor made a late pass to take the victory by only four hundredths of a second. “I tried to make Zoltan pass me because I didn't want to lead the race on the last lap, but he was not going to take the bait”, said D’Agostino.

With his second place finish D’Agostino clinched the Southern Series Championship having seven wins, four seconds and one third. “I’m so happy right now”, exclaimed D’Agostino, “this is a special day for me and it is what I have been working so hard for. I could not have done this without the support of so many people, family, friends, sponsors and the whole Skip Barber organization, thank you”.

D’Agostino also claimed Rookie of the Year honors for his accomplishments having had podium finishes in every race.

Joe wishes to thank all of his sponsors, Arai, Corsa, Kart Mini, Dodge, Michelin, Skip Barber Racing School and all of his personal sponsors.
