D'Agostino Has Star-Spangled Weekend at Thruxton

Hampshire, England – Reigning UK Formula Ford Scholarship Class Champion Joe D'Agostino once again showed why he is the driver to beat, taking a clean sweep of all available points for the 9th and 10th Rounds of the UK Formula Ford Championship at the Thruxton circuit.

After blitzing the field in qualifying by putting his Mockett.com Team JLR Van Diemen on pole by over 0.5 of a second for both of the weekend's races D'Agostino earned his 6th consecutive pole position this year.

With the red lights out the field was underway with D'Agostino maintaining his pole advantage. After a close first few laps D'Agostino sensed his opportunity, driving off into the distance setting fastest race lap even without the crucial draft. In the end the American had pulled just over 3 seconds clear of his nearest competitor in what was a masterful display.

The stage was then again set for Race 2 and the pressure was on for D'Agostino to pull off the double to claw back valuable points on Championship rival Charlie Donnelly. With another faultless start D'Agostino wasted no time in easing away from his pursuers once again setting fastest race lap en route to his 6th victory of the year, with a win margin of 4.4 seconds.

D'Agostino's victories came on top of a double victory in the British F3 Championship races at Thruxton for fellow countryman Charlie Kimball. "It's been a star-spangled weekend!" said a jubilant D'Agostino.

After a complete sweep of all available championship points from the weekend D'Agostino, 2nd in the Championship, more than halved the points lead enjoyed by rival Charlie Donnelly with the gap down to
just 12 points.

Joe commented, "Great car prepared by a great team means my job was easy. I have to thank Team JLR for a fantastic weekend, most of all for believing in me and giving me the confidence to do the job." D'Agostino continued by saying, "I am glad to be a part in the history books with Charlie and I making the first-ever star-spangled weekend, hopefully now people realize us Yanks can drive!"

The 11th and 12th Rounds of the UK Formula Ford Championship will be held on the 24th-25th of June at the Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire.
